Liam is a seven-year-old that has gone through a lot at his young age. As he has a brain tumor, Liam had to undergo chemotherapy. These frequent hospital visits would leave him stressed and anxious most of the time. To help him relax, he has his best buddy by his side, a therapy dog named Sully.

This 1-year-old Bernedoodle has been specially trained to work with Liam. He sits next to him most of the time and lays on him to get his mind off his condition. The dog plays a crucial role in Liam’s well-being, and when he got lost, this worried the family so much.

Searching for Sully

The family’s troubles started when they dropped off Sully to get groomed. When the dog was taken off its leash, he was able to run away and go straight to the woods. The dog was too fast for them, and soon, he was out of their sight.

Laura Holland, Liam’s mom, quickly got worried. She knew how dangerous and terrifying the woods in Florida could get, and she feared that something terrible might happen to Sully. She immediately made a plea on social media for help. She posted Sully’s picture and all the information about the dog.

Laura prayed that the community would help her, and her prayers were quickly answered. Dozens of people from the area responded and reached out to Laura. Many have organized searches while there were some trappers who also gave them useful pieces of information. One of which is to line the area with their scent so that the dog has something to follow.

Laura followed their advice. She bottled some of their urine and spilled some on the shoreline. Amazingly, the ploy worked. Sully got a whiff of their scent and walked back towards where they first lost him. But when the people tried to go near Sully, the dog ran away again.

However, a driver saw the chase happening and drove ahead of the dog. The man rushed out of his car and was able to catch him. Finally, Sully was home. Aside from dehydration and some burns on his sole, the dog was fine.

The family is so thankful and happy that the community joined together to help their lost dog. Now, Liam and Sully are back together again.
