Avanti Fernandes adopted a dog named Olive. Avanti shared that Olive was healthy and looked like your average dog when she got home from the shelter because Olive could run, play, jump without any problems.
Avanti said that no one would ever think that anything was wrong with Olive because she seemed healthy in all aspects. However, Olive started showing signs that she had health issues four months after being adopted.
Avanti recalled that they were walking at the park one morning when Olive suddenly stumbled onto her. Avanti decided to go to the vet and have Olive examined when she noticed that her pup could not stop limping.
Avanti shared that Olive could no longer walk by the time they reached the vet. Avanti recalled that the doctors did an MRI scan, spinal tap, and x-rays to Olive, but all test results came back negative.
Avanti recalled that Olive’s doctors told her that they have to keep Olive at the hospital with them, but she probably had to put Olive down tomorrow. Avanti refused to have Olive euthanized, so she waited until Monday before she was able to bring her pup to the Belle Mead Animal Hospital.
Avanti shared the doctors immediately started doing physical therapy with Olive. Avanti recalled that Olive was paralyzed from her neck down, but they could see progress when everyone saw that Olive began moving her front legs after two weeks.
Avanti recalled that Olive only spent weekends with her because Olive had physical therapies on weekdays. Avanti shared how glad she was when everyone saw that Olive’s legs move a little bit after two months of treatment.
Avanti said that Olive was able to regain her ability to walk after a therapist named Annalisa donated her massaging services to Olive. Avanti admitted that she did not believe in massages, but she was glad that Olive could finally be a healthy dog again after being massaged thrice.
