Clyde Simmons, together with his two adorable Shih Tzus, were out on a road trip to Colorado to visit his family. The trip started as a fun and joyful ride for the trio. But as they were passing through Illinois, things quickly went downhill.
The trailer container that Clyde was towing from behind suddenly broke. And the car Clyde and his pups were in, flipped over, and crashed. After the accident, Clyde and one of his Shih Tzus received care immediately.
However, the younger pup of Clyde, named Goldie, was nowhere to be seen. Out of fear, Goldie ran away. Clyde was heartbroken by the accident, but the disappearance of his pup was even more painful for him.
Because of the accident, Clyde had a few broken ribs and suffered from a critical concussion. Fortunately, he made a quick recovery. But his heart still ached for his missing pup. Not a day went by without him thinking of Goldie.
Jason, Clyde’s son, said that his father was always worried about Goldie. Jason related that even in his sleep, Clyde would call out for his dear pup. Jason saw how much Goldie meant to his father, so he was even more determined to find the pup.
After a few days of unsuccessful search for the pup, Clyde had to continue with his journey to Colorado. But they never lost hope in finding Goldie since many kindhearted volunteers stepped up to help find the pup. Missouri Lost & Found Paws and Found A Hound Rescue also took part in the search.
They had a Facebook page created for Goldie. Some volunteers posted fliers and stationed cameras with treats in some areas in hopes of luring the pup out. But none of their tactics worked.
After some time, Tim Criswell and Julio Miguel Jimenez, two kind neighbors, finally found the pup. They spotted the pup lying by the side of the roadway after being hit by a car. The two guys felt pity for Goldie and brought her to a veterinary clinic.
Goldie was in a bad state after the hit-and-run incident. Luckily though, the pup didn’t get any internal injuries. But she still had several different wounds that left her in a critical condition.
Goldie is slowly getting better and is starting to eat and excrete waste properly. She still can’t stand up or walk, but she has a very good chance of walking again. Goldie’s medical bills are not cheap and had soon piled up and reached $3,000. Thankfully, a generous person from the Found A Hound Rescue covered Goldie’s expenses for Clyde’s family.
Clyde is very happy to see his dog again and is extremely grateful for all those who supported him in finding and treating Goldie.
