A woman named Aubrey and her family found a homeless dog on the streets one day. When they noticed that the dog was pregnant, Aubrey knew they had to foster her. She would not allow this dog to give birth alone.
They then brought the dog, Maggie, home. Aubrey thought that fostering the dog was easy, but there were many challenges along the way. It was snowing in Texas, and the temperature was about ten degrees.
That day, Maggie started nesting and was fluffing the pillows with her paws. She was preparing for her birthing place. That was the same day that the power went out.
The family only had a few firewoods left. It concerned Aubrey because once the puppies are born, they need to stay warm. It even got harder when Maggie went into labor early. So Aubrey and her husband brought Maggie into their shower and turned on the heat. They needed the steam to keep the puppies warm.
When Maggie started giving birth, Aubrey continued to wipe them dry. The steam was not working as they hoped. They knew then that they needed to transfer all the dogs to a better location. They moved them to the car and set it up with blankets and tarps.
It was also in the car that Maggie finished giving birth to all seven puppies. It was then that Aubrey got hold of her parents, who lives 45 minutes away. They had power there, so the whole family drove to their parent’s house.
When they arrived, everyone had this massive sense of relief that they were going to be okay. Aubrey was grateful that all the puppies have thrived. She was very proud of Maggie as well for being such a great mom. After a couple of weeks, they will be ready for their forever home.
