Dogs could remember even the smallest gesture of kindness shown to them by people. This is what Jenny Leech learned after letting a hospice foster pooch named Theo pick out his first and only toy. Theo has a heartwarming story of rescue and resurgence from being a stray pooch.
The dog got abandoned by his former owners at the Walmart parking lot. The dog thought that his owners were just doing their usual shopping at the mall. However, several hours later, the pooch was still waiting at the parking lot.
Fortunately, though, volunteers from the BAARK Dog Rescue in Barrington, Illinois, learned about the dog’s ordeal. As such, the volunteers immediately rushed to the parking lot to rescue the dog. The volunteers brought the pooch to the shelter so that Theo could have a temporary home.
At the shelter, the dog showed how trusting and happy kind of a dog he is. But since the shelter is already full at that time, the volunteers had to find a foster parent for the pooch. This foster parent turned out to be Jenny.
In an interview, Jenny mentioned that the BAARK Dog Rescue often contacts her when there are dogs in need of fostering. The shelter’s volunteers could rely on her because she does not refuse, especially if it is for the dogs’ welfare.
At a time, Jenny and the hospice could accommodate at least three foster dogs. The hospice, meanwhile, has eight rescue dogs under their care. Whenever there are foster dogs like Theo, the hospice dogs are very welcoming.
Jenny brought Theo to the shopping center one day. The woman thought it would be best to build a rapport with the pooch. She then let Theo choose one toy for him to take home. The dog picked a blue floaty dog toy, and the pooch has not let go of this toy ever since.
