You are an amazing teacher, I trust everything you say, I’m trying to learn as much as I can before I get a puppy so I’m more prepared but can’t wait to get one and start practicing all these things you’re teaching!

She has an amazing MLM to get you in on the ground floor. Do it!

Ger the crate and the Leash and the treats before the puppy. I made that mistake and am not playing catchup. You are so wise to research it first,
~Butterflies~
Same im also getting a puppy in a few weeks and I decided to search things up before I get one so I can prepared as well

I’ve shown this video to my puppy like six times and he isn’t doing any of this stuff. About how many times will he have to watch this before he starts understanding how to behave?
Mike J
@Kr3w Fam Yes, obviously. I only let him watch it five times before I gave up.
ASMRyouVEGANyet?
Maybe he doesn’t speak English and needs it to be dubbed into Woof

I’ve been spared. I got my puppy at 6 weeks. He was never previously crate trained. I’ve just been lucky enough that he sleeps through the night, and actually likes to use his crate willingly. It’s nice and cozy! I have even gotten him potty trained in a week for both outside and inside w/ only two accidents. I literally just got him this past Saturday.

Me right now… only a few hours with the pup. I’m so desperate!!!!

I’ve had my puppy 1 week now, and I’ve learnt to give last meal n water by 7. I will definitely train my pup to go in crate during the day and cover the crate at nights.
Mike J
Full time crate dog? Tell me more, is this like a dog aquarium? I have an extra air pump from my fish aquarium so I wouldn’t need to buy much more to make a dog aquarium.
Talia Akoh-Arrey
Doing my best to prepare as much as possible for a new puppy coming in a few weeks. Thanks for all the great advice!
Mike J
You are nesting, so it is almost time. Are you going natural or the C section route?

How is it going

@Liang Christina getting a puppy has been the best and worst decision of my life

Great video! Thank you 🙂 Do you recommend covering the crate during the day for pup naps? Or just at night?
How To Train A Dream Dog
It’s best to stay consistent. I always cover both day and night.

I love your videos! I have a 7 week old Doberman and there’s so many things I was doing wrong based off of previous channels. Thanks so much 🙌🏻
Michelle Diegidio
I agree. Watched others and they advised staying in the room and inch out gradually

I literally just brought my American Eskimo puppy home last night and she started crying when I put her in her crate and it’s been years since I’ve had a puppy and after watching this and your other crate video I was able to get her to calm down immediately already! Thank you I’m gonna watch the rest of your videos to train her
Mike J
I stole a puppy from a girl in Alaska once too. She quit crying about it eventually, was around the seven month mark. Then she started crying about what I did to her parents. Orphans….amiright?
Theresa Kidd
Hey thanks for making your videos! They have really helped us prepare for adopting a puppy! However, I have a bit of a weird problem. We got the crate setup and Noel went in very easily, like she is used to a crate but now she will not come out. She’s 12 weeks old and a Great Pyrenees pup if this matters. Also both doors on the crate are wide open and she will barely stick her nose past the door.
Mike J
You have to put the crate on the ground, you can’t suspend it from a crane 50 feet over your driveway.
CrystalMoon7290
I just got her Friday and I’m certainly going to try this to see what happens. First time puppy parent and I want to learn EVERYTHING.
Enrique Servin
How is it going? I also got my puppy 4 days ago. First night he slept all night but second night whined in the middle of the night for a 10 minutes
CrystalMoon7290
@Enrique Servin She can sleep in her crate good. I have a pen for her with another crate attached to it, and she’ll hop in there on her own to sleep.
Enrique Servin
@CrystalMoon7290 that’s awesome! I need to get a Pen as well.
Jennifer Ibarra
I’m watching this because it’s 1 am and my dog is crying in her crate in the next room lol 😂

@Vy Nguyen so go back to the opening and closing method until the puppy unwinds again and then put a cloth over the top of the cage and not let them see out or else they will get curious and starting whining again.
Vy Nguyen
@- romz – Thanks for the reply! 🙂 I’ll try that and let you know in a month or so HAHA.

Hi – all u have to do is create further confidence with the crate in general & with having the door closed & then go to being left alone in the crate until they express stress & then you should run to them let them out and continue building their condifence – letting anyone or anything “cry it out” causes brain damage its normal for everything to make signals when experiencing stress & teaching them to ignore their own stress signals is much more harmful than teaching them the crate is fun 🙂
Kiyana Eason
Thanks I have a 2 month old havanese and following your technics. After she ate i took her outside, 17 mins wor her out lol, she went to the crate with no problem and fell asleep. I will definitely keep following you and practicing.

Thanks for your videos 🙏 They are of great advice!! I started training my 8 weeks puppy to use the crate. It is just second day of puppy in our home. It is literally crying whining beating the crate rails to get out. It took 13 min to slow down and I waited for total 22 min and let him out into the play pin as it’s his first time and I really feel so bad thinking it may be hurting. Please do tell me if I am doing right and if it is normal behavior.
Edit : it’s a chocolate lab puppy which is 8 weeks old. We just got him home yesterday.

How did you get it used to the crate? Is it fine with it now and healthy?
Mike J
I got a chocolate lab puppy once. Should have heard him scream when I took a bite of of him on Easter morning. Turns out he was not made of chocolate. Who knew?

New to this site! The content is great. I feel like I need the training too. I’m going to try pulling up water by 7pm and see if Chewy, my 9 week old Australian Shepherd, can make it longer at night. He’s already amazing at about 5-6 hours. That makes it so hard during the day when he pees so often. 😀

My 11 week old golden retriever pup has been doing awesome and so glad I watched so many videos before bringing him home. I slept next to his crate the first night, then moved farther away to the couch. On day 3 I was in my bed and he farther away in his crate in the kitchen. Since then he’s been doing great in the crate and napping there about 3 times per day. It’s night time that has suddenly changed. He goes to bed and was sleeping well through the night…9:30 or 10:00pm til about 6:00am or later. All of a sudden, he’s waking earlier, like 4:30 and 5:30am. Have tried to let him cry it out and settle but with a working hubby and school kids, that’s been a bit difficult. I’ve resorted to taking him out to potty and lying with him on the couch for another hour of sleep for the both of us. I’m certain I’m breaking some rules here but not sure what else to do. Hate to complain as he’s sleeping so good as it is. Thinking maybe I need to keep him up longer or play with him right before bed like you said. That’s all I can think of. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It’s been 18 years since I’ve had to train a puppy. We just brought home a 2 month old bassett. I don’t want to reinforce bad habits. I was going to start training tomorrow, but I looks like there’s no better time than the present! Thanks for the tips!

Thank you for this! ❤️ The dog we adopted last year, Xena tricked is into believing that all dogs loved being in a crate because she naturally went into a crate and loved it. We adopted another dog 4 days ago, Xander – it’s been four sleepless nights! I’ll start implementing these tips today! Thanks for the training!
