And patience! Puppies are babies, they don’t know or understand anything yet.
I found myself pretending too much too soon from my puppy, as if by virtur of being a loved pet he should know how to behave.
Fortunately I realized my error, which led to a lot less frustration. He ate a sock? Too bad, lets be sure he’s healthy and move on; he pooped inside? Lets find out why and try to prevent it in the future…

I agree. And I think people feel guilty about limiting puppies freedom because the puppy isn’t getting what he wants but your job as a parent or puppy parent is not to give them what they want. It’s to keep them safe and set them up for success and be there to educate in a way that is in line with their abilities and cognitive understanding.
