I used to go out with my dog for potty training even in the rain and when she was done she got a treat.

I used a spray like that. It wasn’t the same as that but it done the same thing and soaked any area my dog peed on when she was a puppy.

I also had a baby gate to stop her rushing the front door.

I had a playpen for her that I used for the first two months I had her. Then I gave her the freedom of the living room. Then after three months I gave her freedom of the bedroom when I was in there with her.

Now she’s two years old and when she wants to go out she sits at the door looking at me.

When I was doing most training with her I turned training time into play time. She loved training time and made it easier to train her. Now she’s a well behaved dog that loves people and loves other dogs

Hey! I have a question. My dog isn’t eating his meals, this was sudden and now wants to be hand feed and soup added on his meals (Only on his kibble, treats and bones are still instant eaten) should I start using his kibble on a pouch and instead of feeding him 3 times a day, hand feed him troughout the full day? GSD puppy, 3.5 months.

    Love your vids.

It’s best to talk to your vet before permanently changing any food. At this age he’s probably starting teething so his gums might be sore and he’s only going to tolerate that discomfort for the good treats! Try wetting his food with some warm water to make it a bit softer, or offer it in puzzle toys or Kongs and it may be more interesting to him.

Thanks. I have spoken with múltiple vets and all of them point me in different directions. All I want is the puppy to grow as much as possible and I am trying to be the best owner. First time dad fears

What if your puppy seems to have been trained to go in their bed and or crate. This puppy even fought to get into the playpen to relieve herself. When the playpen door was closed and it was tipped up she just went as close to it as she could. It’s like I’m fighting to untrain to retrain. I’ve almost given up.

Don’t give up! You can do this! It’s possible to re-train the pup to go in the spot you like. Just consistently follow the four fundamentals of potty training outlined in our New Puppy Starter Kit and have lots of patience. https://howtotrainadreamdog.com

In certain situations (Nordic Walking, dirty city pavements etc). I intend to use a puppy back pack for the first 6-12 months (He’s a Coton). I was thinking of having a pee pad in the backpack…now I’m not so sure😬. What would you advise please?

How To Train A Dream Dog

We would advise against carrying your dog and instead encourage you to allow him to walk. Keeping him confined to a back pack limits his exposure to walking on new surfaces, causes potential issues with growth and development, and limits his ability to move away from things he isn’t comfortable with (aka flight response).
Walking is part of the physical exercise we encourage and the ability to sniff and explore is part of the mental exercise and enrichment your dog needs as well.
We would never want to restrict his ability to go to the bathroom naturally or encourage him to relieve himself in such a tight space.
