A Missouri family was excited to move into their new home. They checked every nook and cranny of the house to make sure that it was clean. But when they checked the basement, a huge surprise welcomed them.
When they opened the door, the darkness greeted them. But then, when they looked downstairs, a set of eyes glistened. When they turned on the lights, they saw a dog chained to the rafters. They were scared and surprised as this was the last thing that they expected.
Not knowing whether the dog was friendly or not, they decided to call for help.
Jumping Bean
The family contacted Stray Rescue of St. Louis. a non-profit rescue organization based in Missouri. Donna Lochmann, one their rescuers, formed a team and quickly went to the address. A pair of sad eyes met them when they went to the basement.
Donna felt sorry for the dog as they don’t know how long she had been kept in the dark and all alone. And because she was tied on a very short chain, she couldn’t make much movement.
Donna slowly walked down the stairs and talked to the pit bull calmly. She too was uncertain if the dog was scared and be aggressive. But as the brave rescuer got closer, she observed that the dog was friendly. She was wagging her tail and smiling at her.
Donna put a leash on the dog and released her from her chain. It seemed that she was so relieved to be finally free and energetically bounded up the stairs. Once they were outside, she was so happy with her freedom that she started jumping on her rescuers.
This gave them the idea to call her Jumping Bean.
New family
Jumping Bean was brought to the shelter and stayed there for three months. A couple went there looking for a dog to adopt and fell in love with her. They filed for adoption and took her home the same day.
She finally found a family that would give her unconditional love and affection. And she has been happy with them, giving her more reasons to jump for joy.
