There are a lot of things that you can come across when you travel. The sights and the different culture is only a part of it. Other times, there are also situations that happen to you abroad that give you the opportunity to do something good. For one traveler, that opportunity came up when he met a stray dog while going through Sardinia on his kayak.
Chance meeting
Sergei Basoli is a kayaker from Spain who recently embarked on an eight thousand-mile journey through Portugal, Spain, Malta, France, and Italy. He did this incredible feat with just his kayak and a few supplies. But as fate decided, he was able to meet someone along the coast of Sardinia who would go with him through the rest of his trip.
While taking a rest at Alghero in Sardinia, Sergei chanced upon a stray dog who looked like he was traumatized on the street. The Spanish kayaker took the doggie in and gave it some food and a place to stay. He even brought the pup to the local vet to have him checked out. After a couple of days together, the bond that they created was already so deep that Sergei decided to take the pooch along with him.
Travel buddy
After just a few days of getting used to things, the pooch Sergei named Nirvana was able to get his sea legs and get comfortable at sea with his new owner. After a while, the duo moved onto a wooden boat and continued their voyage.
Sergei says that he felt a responsibility towards the pooch, and that’s why he brought Nirvana with him along for the ride. They have never been apart since and now share every adventure together. It is thanks to a chance meeting along a random street that has brought this amazing friendship together. Check out more about their story here:
