Thank you so much for this! I’ve been trying to train my dog not to jump since over 4 weeks now but nothing seemed to work. Your method helped in teaching her in less than 2 minutes! I now will continue to reinforce this behaviour till it comes naturally to her!

Just tried this with my 9 month old rescue pup after a few jump ups on strangers. She got the idea in 2 minutes! Going to start in the house and build up slowly. Thank you!

So often trainers make videos with smart, relatively attentive dogs that are eager to learn/please. We have always had that kind of dog, so dog training came easy for us. A dear friend has recently asked me to occasionally dog sit, in my home, a dog that is so hyper, frantic really, that she seems to have zero attention span the moment the lead is released. Seems like she’s on the extreme end of the bell curve for hyperactivity – too frantic to readily make connections between her behavior and consequences. It would be helpful to see trainers work this this kind of dog, one that really challenges the trainer.

Try adding omega 3 fatty acids to his diet. Specifically DHA for attentiveness focus n memory

It’s the same thing except you start from the root of the main problem first. It’s simple and humans complicate it

Omg I actually love how you have said this when I see stuff like this video it makes me think alright but how would you do that with a hyper dog as my girls personality is very over excited and she doesn’t really have a long attention span so she just wants to go and play and do whatever else she wants to do she is constantly on the go and let me tell you when she sees people that’s it there is no controlling her I try to but she loves people so much she just loves to give them kisses so something like this would not work for my girl and whenever I say something like this to a trainer they say I’m a bad owner or they say to use prong collors and stuff like that but then I don’t want to cause any pain whatsoever ever to a animal

Great tips! I have an 85 pound bully and we struggle with him jumping on people . There are some people who don’t help of course by instigating him to jump . Then there are the people who stand and freeze in horror as he does it to them lol. He’s a great dog just very editable. I really appreciate these tips , Thank you!!

Thank you for these tips. I just adopted a puppy and I’ve been having issues with her jumping not only on me, but more often, other people. I really think these will help her (Dahlia) learn that jumping in inappropriate! She is incredibly intelligent and has already learned many other commands…she just is sticky still about jumping.

@Hadassah Joseph it did a little bit but I ended up buying a training collar with a beeping feature and it helped. It has a vibrate/shock feature but for distracting her to teach her not to jump the beeping worked wonders.

@Matt Morley this is what I came to say too! Try it first. Repetition! And don’t start off waving the socks. Start off just holding them and stepping on the leash.

I use lots of treats when training my 9 1/2 month golden retriever. She’s very food driven so it makes it way easier to get her to follow commands. I’ve trained a Belgium Sheepdog through the local parks and rec classes without treats but that was 25 years ago. Training techniques for dogs has changed. It’s all treats and praises/positive reinforcement. I really love this type of training as opposed to telling the dog what they shouldn’t be doing all the time. Instead tell them what you want them to do. It’s great.🐶

Thanks a zillion. I have a beagle. Very friendly but doesn’t know how to manage himself while playing. This was worry some because there was no boundaries to jumping biting while playing. Got hurt at times and only option was tieing him.

I looked for some tutorial and came across this one. Million times thanks from us. The trick is super helpful. He is learning and we too.

    Lots of love from India

I just got a 14 week lab puppy whose never had any kind of training and these videos are helping a ton. Every morning we focus on one thing before work then every night we focus on a different thing. In the 3 days we’ve got him my wife mentioned “he’s really mellowed out” definitely good progress but a long way to go. She’s also a little pissed that the dog likes me more lmao
