All dogs but especially the small ones should ware booties when it’s above 20c (70f) and below 5c (40f) because the pavement will burn or freeze their paws. If you don’t walk on tarmac roads it’s not as much of an issue. But if you do walk your dogs on tarmac in the hot summer days it literally melts to your dogs paws and pads. And most people don’t even notice. Some poor dogs ended up with giant clumps of it and they had to have it surgically removed which took several HOURS. they can even lose paws and tails if you’re not careful. People forget how fast small dogs are effected by the cold. I have a 5LB teacup chihuahua and I bundle him up in 2 thin layers 1 really thick onesie and socks and booties and he runs out does his business by the door and immediately runs back in. He’ll literally hold it and refuse to go outside if it’s too cold. And he won’t even consider going outside if it’s raining 😂 he’ll wait all day if he has to till it stops raining. The joy’s of small dogs. They think they’re royalty and have this supermodel strut when they walk, they know they’re special because EVERYONE stops to say hi and fuss them… 😂 and they definitely notice other dogs don’t get everyone stopping 😂 they always have to introduce themselves to everyone and they even get huffy if they grace you with their attention and you DARE not respond adoringly 😂 they literally give you a dirty how DARE you look. And they remember and ignore you for the next several interactions. They don’t forgive easily. They’re far more intelligent than we give them credit for.
